CLC Vision
- An ensemble of professional-calibre dancers and a growing repertoire of original northern choreography to be presented at northern festivals and events;
- A school of dance that provides a high calibre of modern technique and theatre/performance skills to foster the growth and development of Northwest Territories modern dancers.
CLC Mandate
- To create, produce and perform original choreography inspired by the north and northern experiences;
- To provide talented northern dancers with the opportunity to develop their dance and performance potential; and to work with young dancers in the capacity of apprentices to develop their technique and performance skills with the goal to prepare them for full company participation;
- To collaborate with other northern artist: visual artists, musicians, directors, and actors, including aboriginal artists working in traditional and contemporary art forms.
- To promote dance as a vital aspect to healthy living across cultures and age groups throughout the NWT.
- To develop and nurture an interest and respect within the community for dance as an art form through community workshops (i.e. in schools, to seniors, to remote communities) and regular performances through which NWT residents will be exposed to dance as art and entertainment.
CLC Goals
- To create and produce the first Crazy Legs Contemporary Dance show at NACC, on May 20th and 21st 2005, showcasing five original pieces of choreography.
- To offer a two week dance intensive workshop at NACC, in July 2005, to develop the technique and performance skills of Crazy Legs Dancers.
- In future years to perform at Great Northern Arts Festival, FOTR, Open Sky Festival; and southern dance festivals.
